Sunday School

We desire to see children come to know Christ, consistently grow in Christ,                                                                                                         develop a biblical worldview, and to serve Christ.

Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will no depart from it. (Proverbs
22:6)
So that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every
good work, growing the knowledge of God. (Colossians 1:10)

Children Chapel Sunday School is very unique in two ways. First, it is not held on Sundays, and
second, the program is geared for neighborhood children, especially for those who don’t go to
school and whose parents are not necessarily members of Children Chapel. You may think of it as
an outreach program, a very successful one! It has been a very effective recruitment tool for both
Children Chapel Church and Children Chapel High School.

Children Chapel Sunday School is led by Persicala Baby, wife of Pastor Sonny. It is held every
Saturday and Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the ground floor chapel. Because of poverty,
illiteracy, large families, and small homes, many children don’t go to school and wander the streets
in our neighborhood. We attract these children to our program by giving them small gifts such
chocolates and candies. Then they enjoy the Sunday School activities and meet new friends. Mostly
the children are between the ages of 4 and 7, but there is no age restriction for our program.
Currently there are 75 to 100 kids attending.

The Children Chapel Sunday School program focuses on:
1. Teaching Christian life through prayer, Bible Stories, worship songs, and activities.
2. Teaching the importance of getting an education in order to have a successful life.
3. Teaching how to have good relationships with parents, relatives, and friends.
4. Teaching about their responsibilities in society.

Many children who regularly attend our Sunday school program become inspired and interested in
going to school so they can have a successful life. They ask their parents, and then the whole
family comes to request their child/children to be enrolled at our school, Children Chapel High
School. The tuition fee is low: about $3 a month per child, plus the cost of uniforms, books, and
supplies. However, for those who can’t afford it, we often provide scholarships according to our
available funds. (Families attending Children Chapel church receive first priority for scholarships).
After years and years of investing in our Sunday School program and Children Chapel High School,                    we have seen these children transformed from a life of poverty and illiteracy to become educated
young adults who now have good jobs as medical technicians and in other professions.

Most importantly, many children who regularly attend our Sunday school program invite their
parents to take them to church. We have no Sunday School program for children on Sunday
morning. Therefore, children of all ages attend our Sunday morning worship services accompanied
by parents or relatives. By the grace of God, we’ve seen whole families transformed by the saving
power of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

At Children Chapel Sunday School, we encourage the children to invite their other friends in the
streets, and they do! Their friends also come at first for candy. Then they enjoy the activities and
new friends. The children themselves are the greatest recruiters for more children. And by this very
important outreach, we are transforming lives, impacting whole families with the Gospel, and directly
attacking poverty by promoting education for the next generation.

Children Chapel Sunday School is free for all and successfully operates on a low budget. However,
we really need your prayers and welcome your financial support for the continuation and expansion
of Children Chapel High School. Please see our Children Chapel High School page for more
information.
