Children Chapel is located in Youhanabad, an area that is plagued with poverty, unemployment, drugs, and additions. It is a crowded area with a population of about 80,000 people.
Yet, still today, there is no medical care facility in Youhanabad. Also, there is no ambulance service to quickly take emergency patients to one of the hospitals in Lahore. Few very people have cars to take their loved ones to the hospital themselves. It is very difficult for a family member to carry a medical emergency patient to a hospital on a motorcycle. Therefore, many people die because of lack of medical help.
In addition, out of compulsion, un-trained and inexperienced women sometimes deal with the urgent child delivery cases. But the results are unpleasant, and sometimes women and/or babies die.
Free 1-Day Medical Camps:
To serve the community, Children Chapel has worked with Pakistani NGOs, such as Care Channel, to arrange free 1-day medical camps at Children Chapel. We hold these camps twice a year. Many kinds of medical specialists and doctors come. Doctor Noel, a friend of Pastor Shakeel Anjum, also comes and works with the team during these camps.
WE REQUEST the Government of Pakistan to cooperate with us to set up a FREE MEDICAL DISPSENSARY in Youhanabad to handle emergency cases. In this way, many lives can be saved. Patients could then be transported to another hospital in Lahore.
